iphone camera hacked?

can your iphone camera be hacked? i was reading an article on safari and as soon as i clicked the website i got a pop up saying hackers had access to my camera and could see me but is this possible?

No. If your camera is ON you will see

Camera In Use Indicator A green indicator appears at the top of your screen whenever an app is using your camera. See Measure dimensions with iPhone.
