How to use Autofill in Safari?

How to use autofill. I have entered names and adresses and Tel No.s in Contacts but when I try filling in my email address on a website it does not autofill

Make sure email address is included in the Contacts card.

When a user needs to fill in email address in a box, usually there appears a person button,

click it and choose the correct one.

If it doesn't work, try the AutoFill menu option

Safari > Edit > AutoFill Form

Thank you for your response. You have solved a mystery for me. How to use Autofill! I have had an iMac for 10 years, bought a new one last year. I have not used Autofill in those 10 years! Nor did I know that Autofill came under Edit heading
