Unless you like to visit unscrupulous download hosting sites or use torrent software, you don't need anything. In the 20 years I've been here, I've lost count of the posts reporting poor Mac performance or stability issues the were resolved only by removing third-party "protection" whose claims are hard to verify.

If you are imprudent with your downloading, MalwareBytes was written for Mac so it does not interfere with protection the OS affords, and is very effective at detecting and removing adware, the only real threat.
