idvd project access

Unless you're running a older system, High Sierra or earlier, you can't access the iDVD project file. The iDVD app has discontinued nearly 5 years ago so the project file has little or no value unless you can run iDVD on an earlier system.

An iDVD project contains no media. It references media that is located elsewhere on your computer. If the media locations have changed since you saved the project, iDVD wouldn't be able to find them and the project wouldn't be playable even if you had a working iDVD app on your computer. If, when you saved the project, you had done a File/Archive, then the media would be incorporated into the project. In that case, you could do a Control-click on the project's icon and then click on Show Package Contents in the pop-up menu. You would then find a Contents/Assets folder where the project's media could be retrieved. However, as Old Toad points out, the project itself could not be played without a functioning iDVD app on your Mac.

If by chance you had burned the project to a DVD or saved it as a disc image, then you could play those final products with your Mac DVD player.
