Saved emails in finder opening with mail not outlook

HI Have just purchased a new iMac.

I have installed outlook 365 for Mac.

I sometime save the email on my Mac by dragging the email from outlook into a folder within finder (As I have always done)

when I open the email from finder the email opens automatically in mail even though I have gone into mail and set outlook at the default email address.

for some reason, Finder on my Mac, still sees Mail as my default client.

can anyone help.

iMac 27″, macOS 11.2

Have you tried doing Get Info after right clicking on a message then choosing Microsoft OutLook as the default app to open the emails?

Hi there,

thanks for the reply and yes indeed this has worked.

However, the icons still show as Mail files, not Outlook files which means we have also lost the facility of being able to preview the file (Pressing space bar on a Mac opens the Mac in a window. you cannot edit this, just read)

this is a great short term fix but not correct.

Regards

Dean
