Apple ID and updating apps

Hi

a cousin gave me her old iPhone when they got a new one

it had all the apps I need installed

I signed out of her Apple ID and created my own

now I need to update an app

i tried my Apple ID password and it refused so I

tried entering her password

but it’s still saying verification failed

please assist(:

iPhone 6s, iOS 14

Ask the cousin to do the steps in the article below to make it 'your' phone.

Selling/Giving Away Device.

If you want to be able to share apps, you need to set up Family Sharing with your cousin.
