Did Apple stop carrying YouTube on the first generation Apple TV device?
Thank you. We were able to mirror for a while, then YouTube disappeared. Unfortunately for us, the latest Apple TV device, which we will purchase to get YouTube again, won’t be available for several weeks. I wish Apple had waited until then to remove YouTube.

AirPlay should still work.

As mentioned, it was YouTube that dropped support. There isn’t any use keeping a non-functional icon on the home screen.

When the YouTube App was still there, we could mirror anything on YouTube, so many shows were still available to watch on tv, as opposed to watching only on a device. Not terribly convenient, but so much better than nothing. But that is Apple today, like so many other changed companies. The early years were just so amazing.
YouTube stopped supporting the 1st and 2nd generation in May 2015. YouTube stopped supporting the 3rd generation in March 2021.
