Can I stream audio from my Apple TV to my iPhone for private listening?
I would like to use my iPhone (using my headphones) to listen privately while viewing on my Apple TV. Is this possible?
If not, why not?

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today. As we understand, you want to hear your Apple TV's sound through your iPhone then to your headphones.
What you are describing isn't a feature. You can AirPlay from your iPhone to other devices including the Apple TV, but it wouldn't work from the Apple TV to the iPhone. Use AirPlay to stream video or mirror your device’s screen.
What you could do is pair Bluetooth headphones to your Apple TV for private audio: Use Bluetooth accessories with your Apple TV.
