MacBook Pro 13" Mid 2012 tops out at Catalina macOS 10.15.

Have a complete backup prior to performing the upgrade.


Use only Safari to perform the download. No other browser.


If you upgrade to Catalina, you will need to find and update all apps to 64-bit. Mojave is the last version that can support both the older 32-bit apps, and the newer 64-bit apps. This includes Office 2011 and earlier, which will not work on macOS after Mojave; on Catalina and later. To find these apps, you can use the tool Go64.


Big Sur macOS 11 is not supported on this Mac.
