Family sharing
If I put something in my reminder will it show up for the whole family or just in mine?

That depends on how you setup the reminders. You can set the reminders up just for yourself or for some of the members of the family or for all of the members in the Family Sharing. Ensure that you have the appropriate LIST setup. One of the lists should be just YOUR NAME. Any reminders assigned to that list will only be seen by you.
