Backlighting notification won't go away / stuck.

Hi,

I am on a an M1 MacBook Pro. Opening it this morning the backlighting notification will not go away. I have tried restarting. Tried changing anything that looks relevant in the notification centre. Tried turning off Better Touch Tool.

When I restart it appears 5-10 seconds after logging in. How can I fix this? Thanks.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.3

I think I have fixed it! Force shutting down Logitech Options in Activity Monitor made it go away, and then come back when that restarted. I have uninstalled that programme for now and the issue seems to have resolved. Thank you all for your help!

That's telling us that you have some 3rd party software that may be the culprit. In that case download and run Etrecheck. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support  to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

IMPORTANT:

Before running Etrecheck assign Full Disk Access to Etrecheck in the Etrecheck's Privacy preference pane so that it can get additional information from the Console and log files for the report:

Also click and read the About info to further permit full disk access.

Copy the report

and use the Additional Text button to include the report in your reply.

Then we can examine the report and see if we can determine what might be causing the problem.

M1 Computer does not have a SMC but try this. Shutdown and keep the lid open. Hold the Power / Touch ID button for 10 seconds. Restart and Test.

If that does not work - does this happen when restarting in Safe Mode - SHIFT immediately at startup. It does a Repair Disk, clears cache files and only loads Apple Software and Fonts. It will load slowly - normal. The appearance and feel will be different - also normal. Test

I have tried reinstalling Big Sur, unfortunately that did not remove it. Is there a way to roll back to Big Sur 11.2.3 without having a time machine backup? I would like to try that if possible but when I search I only find articles about rolling back to Catalina. I don't have a time machine back up (I know - idiot).
