iPhone not appearing in Finder

When I connect my iPhone XR to my MacBook Pro USB port, the iPhone starts charging but it is blinking all the time in Finder and you can't select it to do backup, synch, or anything. I also don't get the trust this computer prompt on iPhone. Note that this happened with one of recent Mac OS updates as I used to be able to connect the same iPhone to the same Mac.

Thanks,

Michael
