Can covering your speaker on your iPhone at loud volumes damage it ?

I’ve had an iPhone XR for a year and a half now and was just wondering sometimes I cover my phone speaker at high volume does this damage the speaker at all

Can a close-case damage my iphone? I bought this “survival” case for my iphone which is closed. Been using it for two weeks and noticed sound is not the same with the case on (which consists of two pieces, closing the phone completely). Sound is more crisp and cleaner without it. My question is, does it damage the performance of my iphone-speaker on the long-run? Should I change my case?
