sending damaged iPhone back

After i receive the replacement iPhone and i do a Backup what is the next step?

Is your old iPhone still working? If yes, setup your replacement iPhone from the phone, if no, setup your new iPhone from your backup. Then follow the instructions in the box for sending back your iPhone.
