All my hard drive contents have been rearranged after macOS Big Sur update

Since upgrading to Big Sur on my MBP I'm having some issues. One I am really about is that my hard drive contents have all been rearranged and now reside in "System>Volumes under the name of the hard drive. Can this be reversed? What will happen if I drag this stuff out of that folder like it was before? I hate having to search or dig for stuff I used to access more easily. Grrrrrr. This is how the hard drive looks now Everything is nested into the hard drive (Normandy) under System>Volumes :

You no longer have r/w access to the System folder.

this is the new normal.

At some point you will have to confront the fact, it has always been the best housekeeping policy to keep your User data in your Home Folder on the macOS.
