That's only if the duplicates haven't propagated to iCloud. The article's very first bullet point says if you see duplicates in iCloud, to go to the Apple Support page linked, which is no help at all.

Anyway, thanks for responding -- I solved my problem by restoring a month-old archive and now I get to see, over time, what contact info I may have changed in the last month. :(

iCloud doesn't provide a direct way to delete duplicate contacts. You can remove duplicate contacts on Mac and on iPhone. As long as you remove duplicate contacts on iPhone and Mac, there will be no duplicate contacts on iCloud.

That page says to visit Apple Support but doesn't say what do do from there. Where exactly is the info on what to do if we see every contact duplicated on every device, including on iCloud?
