I continue to get error code 1 when trying to sign in although I can sign in on my Mac and my IPhone using the same credentials. I removed FB and reinstalled but I continue to have the problem. I am running iPadOS 14.4.2. The earlier suggestions are not helpful.

It’s not the app, it’s the IPad. This is a known problem as far back as 2014 according to discussions on Apple. I can’t sign in when I download the app, but if I go through Chrome or Safari and login on Facebook.com I can get in, but buttons, returns, a number of functions don’t work correctly. I can get in fine on my Mac and my IPhone.

After reviewing your post, it seems like you are not able to sign into Facebook on the iPad but you can on other devices. You may need to contact them directly since it works on multiple other devices.

Reset Network Setting to do this navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Setting
If issue persist it is best to get in touch with the app developer this could be related to their app software or system
Try restarting the iPad, this usually works for me.

Thanks for the information. If it is having trouble loading the Facebook website using multiple browsers, there may be a connectivity issue on the iPad.
Are other website able to load correcly?
How are the functions not working correctly?
Is the iPad connecting using Wi-Fi or cellular data?

Worst case factory reset your iPad and set it up as a new iPad, if that doesn't work it's definitely Facebook's problem.
Can you sign into another account? Or is it all accounts.
I can load the FB app, but when I try to sign in I get the error code message. I can go to a browser and login that way, but functionality such as “liking”, moving about without the screen jumping around, do not work properly. I have removed the app and reinstalled and I still get the same error. All other apps work fine. The iPad is using wi-fi.
No I mean another Facebook account, you could be suspended or something of that sort.
