migration assistant not connecting

I have a MacBook Air and a MacBook Pro connected through a thunderbolt cable, but migration assistant is still only going through the WiFi. How can I override this so that the cable connection is used instead?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.3

Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems you do not want to use Wi-Fi for Migration Assistant. There are a couple connection types you can try that may be able to help. We would recommend you read these articles and use them to help troubleshoot the issue.
