I noticed a new icon in my iPhone status bar yesterday. Is anybody familiar with it? A little hard to tell without a magnifying glass but it looks like a sound wave. Are third parties allowed to put icons up there?

That looks like a dead spot on the display, not a status icon.
This is terrible! I just pulled down notifications and the status bar moved but the spot remained. Thanks.
I agree with IB6857, it looks like a display issue, or something on your wallpaper. Either way, not an icon.
