Time Machine
Error message about my USB external drive: "Eject the disk containing "TimeMachine" before disconnecting or turning it off."

Please restart in Safe Mode with all external wire peripherals (Hard Drives, printers, scanners, etc..) disconnected. Then restart normally and retest.
By chance do you have any third party antivirus, cleaning or other "maintenance" apps installed on the computer?
