How to keep the sound icon in the menu bar
Is there a terminal command to keep the volume control in the menu bar from disappearing each time I restart the Mac?
iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

Hello danielfrombolingbrook,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
We understand from your post that when you restart your Mac the volume control no longer shows up in the menu bar. Make sure that the box it ticked under the Apple menu > System Preferences, then Sound and “Show volume in menu bar” is selected.

Best Regards.
Thanks, but please understand: each time I restart, that means I must go into System Prefs and check that box. I'm looking for a way to make sure that box remains checked forever unless I decide to uncheck it. So there is no way I can do that through Terminal?
I think we have a corrupted list, but 1st try this...
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Does it work in the new account?
