Apple TV 4K (2021) video profiles

I’ve been looking into getting an Apple TV for a while but have been hesitant because the 4K model only lists H.264 support for the Main profile. I was hoping that the new version being released this year would change, but the specs still show “H.264/HEVC SDR video up to 2160p, 60 fps, Main/Main 10 profile“.

I have over 300 movies that have been encoded using the H.264 High profile so does anyone know if these will play on the latest gen Apple TV 4K?

By lumping H.264 and HEVC in the same line, the specification gets a bit muddled, which is unfortunate, as the profiles have different meaning for different codecs.

H.264 SDR video up to 1080p, 60 fps, High or Main Profile level 4.2 or lower is compatible.
