So this has been happening for a while where I send mp3 files to my iPhone from my Mac and for some reason, the phone insists I MUST open the file via whatsapp and then wants me to send the file to one of my contacts. THAT'S NOT WHAT I WANT! LOL. This is so annoying. To even make matters more frustrating, the file just vanishes! Anyone know how to resolve this?

So here's how to rectify the issue. Just temporary offload the whatsapp app then try sending the file again. This time, it gives you the option to store file on iPhone memory or iCloud or just store it in the default file folder. After this, reinstall whatsapp. All chat and conversation is restored. Yeah. Did that. And it works… Quite a hassle honestly but gets the job done. Can’t be offloading whatsapp all the time I wanna receive an mp3 file. Apple should just fix this. It’s been going on for the longest of times. 😭
im new to Apple, but it sounds to me that WhatsApp has a file association for mp3. When installed. I know in windows how to check file associated with default apps but not sure about macOS or IPhoneOS.
Have you tried temporary deletion of WhatsApp and then airdropping to see if there is some other issue going on?
