Trustd running high CPU and system.keychain

I've tried all the suggestions on here to stop Trustd constantly running. Nothing works.

But when I tried deleting the system keychain to see if it would help, something weird occurred.

When I restarted, expecting to have to enter my wifi password, it connected as if I hadn't deleted the keychain at all!

'getinfo' shows the new keychain was created today, but 'keychain app' shows everything still there from before...all passwords, wifi passwords, etc.

Can you explain this? How can everything still be there if I deleted it?

It might explain why I'm still having trustd issues as nothing has changed to see if this might be the issue.

Can you suggest something?

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

EtreCheck is a FREE simple little diagnostic tool to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report if you capture the URL while there…

Whew, they've changed pastebin & made it harder, but after pasting in, click Create new paste button, then Embed button, then copy the URL...

The important part of the above is...

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...

I had this problem on May 23, 2021, about a week after updating to the latest Catalina; not sure if that was the cause. Followed the instructions about deleting the 'System.keychain' file. Didn't work for me. So I backup the Keychains folder and deleted the entire folder. As of today, the 'trustd' issue has not popped up again.

And yes, the passwords are all intact after deleting the Keychains folder.

Hope this helps.

Every Login item slows things down, & corrupt ones much worse.

About the 1st things trustd does is check..

/System/Library/Security/Certificates.bundle/Contents/Resources/certsTable.data

/Library/Keychains/crls/valid.sqlite3-shm

then Notifications & Spotlight, Time etc, and then sends analytics to Apple, but goes on doing many things.

My login items never caused trustd to remain running high before it suddenly started to. None are corrupted. Once trustd has done its checks and sent its analytics, it should drop down to minimal CPU. Whatever's causing it to keep running makes no sense to me. It should be possible to see what it is easily. Yet it is not. Very frustrating.
