Are my AirPods FAKE?

Hello, I am curious if my airpods 2 are fake.

Look at screenshoot. The model number that is written in my phone is correct and verified, but model number is A2000 - this is not a model of any airpods as far as I know. Another thing... on my airpods charging box it is written the same serial number as in the phone (GT***X2Y) but on my airpods headphones is written without the letter G - so like this - GT***X2Y.

If anyone has some answers, I would really appreciate some help.

Best regards,

Jure

Hi, no your airpods are not fake. I checked with apple using their chat and they confirmed they are not. I also managed to get the purchase date to validate that they are Original, see screen shot below. So if you purchased it on the date mentioned in the screen shot- your airpods are 100 percent genuine. Sometimes certain model numbers may not be listed, like my apple watch serial cannot be verified using their site, but when i call apple support they said its a genuine product and can be verified. So don't worry about it. Apple can also miss out sometimes! And yes, if you can go in the airpods menu and get the serial and all others details like you have provided in the screen shot, the airpods are not fake! Hope that helps

Thank you very much khajotia,

it just seemed strange to me, that 1 letter is missing on both of the airpods.

I have one more question. The "Hey Siri" is not working when I am using my airpods, it is only working if I double tap on them. I have enabled "Hey Siri" on my phone and I am constantly using it. But for some reason with headphones connected it is not working... what could be the problem?

Thank you for your help.

You are most welcome, Jure! What ios are you currently using? Make sure you update to the latest one supported by your phone., preferably ios 14.5.

Also try this;

Turn on “Hey Siri” for the device you connect your AirPods to. Return your AirPods to their case and hold the setup button to reset them. Reset All Settings on your device, turn on “Hey Siri,” and pair your AirPods again.

also, try to go to the phone settings and disable hey siri from there, then restart your phone. If it works then great, if not you open bluetooth in the settings and go in the airpods and select right ear to siri. The double tap option, if that works it means your airpods are ok, which you said works, i think there maybe some software or app causing this prob. Let me know if this works. If not you will have to reset your phone and set it up again, but hopefully after the unpairing and reset of your airpods, it should be ok.

Just try to pair and forget the devices a few times, also signing out of i cloud on your device and restart it, then sign back in and i am sure it should work. Good luck!

Regards
