How do you crop an image in Pages?

Apparently there's a "Mask" option but all the mask commands are grayed-out for my image, and typical of Apple there is nothing explaining why I cannot edit the image's mask.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.13

Thanks, I figured out a different workaround. Apparently in the genius of what is needed to be an Apple developer, they brilliantly chose to disable masks when an image's Object Placement is "Move with Text" instead of "Stay on Page". If you temporarily change the placement to "Stay on Page" you can adjust the image mask, then change its placement back to "Move with Text". I'm constantly amazed by the quantity of bugs and inept decision-making by Apple employees.

Hi chappa-ai,

There may be better methods, but this is what worked for me:

In Pages, go to the File menu and choose New from template Chooser.

(Press the option key if you do not see that choice in the menu.)

Choose one of the templates with a masked image.

Click on the image and prss command-C to copy it to the clipboard.

Go to the Pages document in which you want to plane your image.

Click where you want it, then press command-V to paste the copied image (and its mask) into the document.

Copy the image you want to place in the mask, then click on the image in the mask and press command-V.

Your image will replace the one in the mask. Selecting that image will now also select the mask, and make the Mask tools available to you.

My image original on the left.

Pasted into the mask on the right, then adjusted the size and relative positions of the image and the mask.

Regards,

Barry
