My Macbook Air needs an update. I am unable to download any new apps or update anything. I Have Yosesemite but it says I do not have another available update. How do I get my computer up to date with the newest software?

A late-2010 through mid-2011 MacBook Air can be upgraded to High Sierra 10.13.6 but no later version.

You’ll never find upgrades through the update mechanism.
To obtain a newer, major version of the macOS, you’ll need to upgrade.
