Problematic WiFi Calling

I have my phone set to use WiFi calling. Every call has a long dead space when I cannot hear the other party nor can they hear me. This is not at the beginning but usually about a minute into the call and seems to last for 20-30 seconds. This is consistent... not intermittent. Is anyone else having this issue?

Hi wlsonnyharris,

The next step we’d like to try is resetting your device network settings back to the factory state. This means you will need to reconfigure your network settings but also cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you have used before (so be sure you have your Wi-Fi password handy and other information).

Before we do this step, it’s always a good idea to be sure you have a recent backup of your device. You can learn more about backing up your data and settings here: About backups for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

When you’re ready let’s go to Settings > General > Reset and choose "Reset Network Settings." Let us know how that goes.

Hey there, and welcome to Apple Support Communities, wlsonnyharris!

From our understanding, you are having issues with Wi-Fi calling. We can certainly understand your concern and we'd like to help

We'd like to gather some additional information to help with isolating this issue that you're having with Wi-Fi Calling.

  • Have you been able to use Wi-Fi calling in the past without an issue?
  • Do you have an issue hearing or being heard on a regular call or a video call?
  • Are you experiencing this in multiple locations when using Wi-Fi calling?

Kindest regards!

Thanks for the response. My answers are below:

  • Have you been able to use Wi-Fi calling in the past without an issue?

This has consistently been an issue since I first started using WiFi calling. It seems to be getting worse (longer pauses) but that could just be my irritation growing.

  • Do you have an issue hearing or being heard on a regular call or a video call?

No issue with regular calls (which are always done away from my office) and no issues with video calls even in my office.

  • Are you experiencing this in multiple locations when using Wi-Fi calling?

I only use WiFi calling at one location (my office) so I only have this issue there.
