Does Safari sandbox websites?

I’m a bit curious about Safari for iPadOS and iOS’s security, and came to wonder: Does Safari for both iOS and macOS sandbox websites?

Will my iOS device remain safe and secure even if I accidentally go to a malicious website that Safari didn’t block?
