AirDrop on Older MacBook Pro Doesn't Work

My husband was trying to send me a file on this older MacBook I received today (I have the 2011 MacBook Pro). He can't find my computer on his AirDrop on the iPhone and MacBook, and every time I open the AirDrop app, these words pop up:

"The operation can’t be completed because the item can’t be found."

Does anyone know what should we do to get it to work again?

First try this:

Reset SMC How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

Reset NVRAM Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Restart holding Shift to enter Safe Mode. Once loaded, restart normally and check the AirDrop.

Also create a new admin user and check if it works in it.

Let us know the outcome so we can try other things if it didn't work.
