My child has an iPhone x, I have a galaxy s21 ultra. I have an icloud account and I have his icloud account set up on his phone. Do I literally have to have an apple device to use any of the family sharing features?

Since Apple Music is the only service Apple offers on Android I suspect that things involving other services would not apply. For example, Location Sharing uses the Find My interface which Android does not have.
Does this only apply for apple music or would I be able to control or see his account activity and location sharing features, etc.?
