Slow magsafe charger (20w brick) for iphone 12 pro

I have been charging my phone for exactly1 hr and the battery only increased by 25%. Is there something wrong with my magsafe charger (all products are from apple store)? When using usbc-lightning cord (20w brick), the charging time is only 1h45mins. Phone is not used while charging.

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14

Hi Shariadne,

you are welcome! If you bought your Magsafe from Australia you will be having the Original receipt with you. You can claim apple warranty anywhere in the world, or simply visit your apple reseller in your country. You should also download the apple support app here:

you can also try this, this is specifically for your country.

Apple will replace your charger if its under warranty.

Good luck

Hi, you are not the only one! I am also facing the same problem. My charger takes around 5 hours to charge my iphone 12 from 20 percent to 85. I think its a waste of money, best is to go to the apple reseller and see if you can show them how slow it charges and hopefully they will take it back. For me, they gave me a new one but i had the same problem, so i guess a batch of MagSafe chargers could be faulty.

My reseller here in Pakistan was good to change it. However, they said they have sold hundreds of magsafe but no one else has complained.

its also better not to use MagSafe as it heats up your phone too and fast chargers deteriorate the life span of the battery over time. I would suggest use the brick that came with your iphone. I use the 5 w brick that came with my XR and it take about 2 hours 30 m to fully charge my 12.

@khajotia. Thank you for your response. I am from the Philippines and I bought this from apple store australia. I don’t know if i can still have it replaced here in the Philippines. Apple should have quality tested it first before selling defective magsafe chargers. This is such a hassle. And the price of a magsafe charger is expensive too.
