Get them all, and decide for yourself.

Personally, I read ebooks on my iPhone. Much easier to read in bed that way 😀

I use a mix of iPhone apps: Amazon kindle app, Barnes & Noble Nook app, Apple Books, ShuBook 2M (for DRM free ebooks)

I generally do not like reading books on my Mac, especially an iMac. I would be forced to sit in one location, and it would be more difficult to relax. Even a laptop has reading position limitations.

I will read maybe the ebook preview (1st chapter or 2) on my Mac, but once I've decided to buy the ebook, I transfer it to my iPhone.

I also use Calibre <https://calibre-ebook.com/> to keep track of my ebooks purchases, as well as give my self personal reviews so I know if I want to read any more books from that author, or if I want to just re-read the book a few years later, for fun.

I use CalibreCompanion <https://apps.apple.com/us/app/calibre-companion/id1171161691> on my iPhone to keep a mobile copy of my Mac Calibre information, so I can look for books I have purchased, but have not read yet.

I use https://GoodReads.com to keep track of books I've read, which comes in handy, especially if I want to see what other books exist in a series.

I use https://BookBub.com to find free or discounted ebooks. I've found many new authors, where I've gone on to purchase just about every book they wrote, because I got one of their ebooks for free via BookBub.com. I've also found authors I never want to read again, but at least I did not pay full price 😀

How would I know that? I am not in the ebook reader evaluation business. I use Apple Books, and that is all.

I can say that countless posts in the Apple Support Communities since Fall 2020 have been from those that had relentless issues with the Kindle v1.3.0 reader crashing whether directly from Amazon, or the Mac App Store. That's a long time for a vendor to do nothing about it.

I have friends that prefer the paper.

But in 2000 I got my first Palm based PDA, and started reading ebooks (free ones from baen.com; Sci-Fi). Withing a few years, I was basically ONLY reading ebooks on a handheld device.

I have it with me all the time. I can read while waiting in line or a doctor's office. I have 100's of ebooks with me at all times. When reading in bed the hardback book does not fall from my hands a smack me in the face as I fall asleep. And if I fall asleep, the ebook reader does not loose my place in the book, which has happened more than once reading paper. And reading in bed does not need a night stand light that keeps my Wife awake. I just turn down the brightness on the iPhone, and enjoy my book.

And I am holding the book in my hands 😀

But yes, I understand you prefer the feel of the paper, and the other experiences of a paper book. At least you are reading, which is more than many kids today can say.
