ATI Radeon 5670 512MB not recognized in Windows 7 32-bit

Hi

I've just purchased a new mid-2010 27" iMac, the one with the ATI Radeon 5670 512MB card. I've installed Boot Camp 3.1 but Windows still sees the card as a generic VGA adapter. I've tried a myriad of different drivers from ATI, none of which work (ATI Catalyst Control Center won't even load on any of them).

Any thoughts? There's an application (rFactor) that I'm trying to run that starts with video config file, and it's telling me that I need drivers.

Thanks

Fixed it! Had the same problem too. Windows 7 32bit mid-2010 iMac with ATI Radeon 5670 an all it would show was a vga-adapter, tried everything imaginable as well as trying XP but same problem existed. The graphics card just wouldn't install - windows of varying versions just thought i had next to nothing an nothing would persuade them otherwise but sussed it!

THE SOLUTION - yes there is one - is the same as for the black screen problem at install. In the updates released for bootcamp, one is for iMacs from mid-2010 which would display only a black screen at startup instead of loading. Now mine didn't do this but I figured it was the same basic problem with a graphics card. Follow the instruction and low-and-behold it works perfectly first time!

You'll need to reinstall Windows 7 but worth it. Apple's Article which fixes it: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3173

Good luck all!

Connect an second Display, such as 17 inch LCD or any other Monitor, then start your Windows installation with bootcamp. When it comes to the display resolution the mac will switch to the external Monitor and you will be able to complete the windows installation. As soon the installation is completed, the windows update program will install the proper ATI driver for the 27 inch display and all is fine.

The solution is as simple as it sounds.
