Notifications on Apple Watch

Is there a way to receive notifications on apple watch while watching videos or listening to music on my phone.

I watch movies at work and if someone text me I don’t see a notification on my watch at all

When the iPhone is unlocked and being used, you will not receive notifications on the Apple Watch. That is by design. Notifications on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Notifications go to either your Apple Watch or iPhone, but not both. Learn when a notification might appear on your iPhone, instead of your Apple Watch, below.

If your iPhone is unlocked, you'll get notifications on your iPhone instead of your Apple Watch.

If your iPhone is locked or asleep, you'll get notifications on your Apple Watch, unless your Apple Watch is locked with your passcode.
