delete Photos from iMovie

The way I delete photos and video clips from iMovie is to select the photo or clip by clicking on it to select it. Then go to File/Reveal in Finder. An Original Media folder will pop up with the name of the photo or clip that you selected highlighted. Control-click on the highlighted name and click on Move to Trash, and then empty the trash.

WARNING: The above procedure will permanently delete the photo or clip from the iMovie library, and will thus delete it from all projects that may be using the clip. So the projects will be disabled. Also, if you do not have the original source clip stored elsewhere than in your iMovie library you will permanently lose your source photos.

You can also permanently delete photos by deleting the entire Event (select the event and then do File Delete Event) that contains the photos, with the above warning still applying. All media in the event will be permanently deleted.

If you just want to delete a photo from a specific project, but not permanently from the iMovie library, then just click on it in the timeline to select it and press the Delete button on your keyboard. To delete it from an Event, click on the event and, select the photo in the media browser, and in the media browser do a File/Delete from Event. The latter procedure will not permanently remove the photo. However, deleting the entire event itself, not just the photos in it, will permanently remove from the iMovie library all photos and all other media contained in the event.
