Why is my audio on Apple Mac not working? I have checked system preferences and all ok and volume button on keypad showing as full volume but no sound.

sound not working on my mac
Why is my audio not working? Have checked the system preferences and not on low or mute. The buttons on keypad are showing full volume but can’t get any sound.
