What is the problem with double-clicking a .zip file in the Finder and having it unzip it? Conversely, you can right-click on a file or folder, and from the Finder's secondary menu, select Compress "xyz" to zip that content. Otherwise, there is the free The UnArchiver from the Mac App Store.
Thank you for the reply. I used to be able to double click on a zipped file and Zipeg used to open it. At the moment when I double click on a zipped file, there is a reaction but the unzipped file never appears just above the zipped file as it used to. I then went looking for Zipeg and a message told me that it is not suitable for a 16bit processor.
Then change to " Suffit Expander " - that application is still installed ?
Assuming the " Zipeg " application is still installed. On a Zip file Right Click it and choose More Info and in there, look for " Open With " and change to file association from Zipeg to Unarchive.
The word UNarchive is nowhere to be seen anywhere.
Think you meant Archive Utility which is located in /Systems/Library/CoreServices/Applications.
That is what I see.
@ VikingOSX - My Bad and thank you for putting things right ;-)
No, ArchiveUntility is there but you mentioned Unarchive and that I cannot find anywhere. This is a huge problem for me and I cannot find a solution.
Change it to " Archive Utility "
