I just updated to 14.5 bc my phone was acting up. Now I am having a problem with messaging. When I click the new message icon and type name of contact, my contacts are not loading. If I go directly to contact profile, the messaging, call, etc icons are all inactive. I have to click on send message to send a text. Anyone else experiencing this?

We understand that contacts are not showing when sending a new message. Also, when going into a contact's profile, "message, call, FaceTime, etc" are grayed out. We'd like to see if we can help. We recommend powering off the iPhone and then powering it back on: Restart your iPhone A restart resolves many software related issues.
If restarting doesn't resolve the issue, and the contacts are syncing to iCloud, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Contacts. Once there, toggle contacts off. If you get a message about deleting or keeping, select keep. Afterward, enable Contacts. Check to see if the contacts are showing correctly now.

You may want to reach out to Apple: Support - Production Selection Once there select iPhone, and then the issue you're experiencing. If you do not see your issue, you can select "The topic is not listed" and then type it in.

You mentioned it may be an issue with the Wi-Fi connection. Are you able to access the contacts when connected to cellular data? If issue doesn't exist, go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Toggle Wi-Fi off and then toggle it back on. If that doesn't help, try a different Wi-Fi network if possible. If you have no issues with cellular data and a different Wi-Fi network, then it appears to be related to your Wi-Fi network.
If you have the password to the one that you're experiencing the issue with, remove it from the iPhone and then reconnect to it.

I did both a restart and the icloud contacts troubleshoot as you recommended. It still isnt working. Update: seems to be related to wifi connectivity. Even though my wifi is working and connected it is disrupting this contacts/texting process. Very strange. I have never had this issue before with my iPhones or this 12 model before the update to 14.5
Im still having problems and it seems to be a connectivity issue with the wifi and cellular data. Im not getting my emails. Still having issues with contacts loading and websites freezing. I can’t keep turning my phone on and off. This is so frustrating
Im now having the problem on cellular as well. It’s happening on cellular data with wifi turned off. And neither cellular plan or wifi have changed. The only thing that has changed is the update.
