Hi guys i have an Iphone 12 pro and and apple watch series 2 when i try to add the cards on the watch app it says software update required however i ve done all the updates and they are up to date , i have sign out and turned the passcode on and off that apple suggested still it says software update required. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thank you, i had contacted my bank and they did tell me that from their end everything was fine. The issue was that the cards were working and then i had to pair my watch again and they couldn’t be added which was strange. Thanks for your answer at least other users can see this issue as i ve been researching for days and found nothing.

I just talked to Apple support regarding this issue on my first generation Apple Watch. Apple Support are now saying that you can add credit cards only to Series 3 Watch and up. Existing cards on the older Apple Watches will continue to work for the time being.
Try to update to iOS 14.6. I had the same issue with my Apple Watch first generation (osWatch 4.3.2) with iOS 14.5.1 on my IPhone. After update to iOS 14.6 I could add my debit/credit cards again. I can use Apple Pay without any problem now.
The cards you are trying to add may require watchOS 7 which your model cannot run.
How can i check if my cards require that?

Thank you. I updated IOS on my iPhone today and I can now add credit cards to my first generation watch. Watch Apple Pay is a major application for me!
