When I try to add my card to wallet it shows the last 4 digits of an unknown card and asks me for the 3 digit security code which obviously I don't know. This is stopping me adding my own card. How can I remove this unknown card from the file?

When I try to add my debit card to Wallet on my iPhone it lists an unknown card on file and asks for the 3 digit security code. Obviously I don't know the security code as its not my card but when I try to add my own card it says the card can't be added and to contact my bank. I'm not sure the bank would help with this. How do I remove this mystery card from the file?

Specifically, check out the "Remove a card" section. If the issue persists, the section below may help:

"Go to your Apple ID account page or use Find My iPhone to suspend or permanently remove the ability to pay from that device with Apple Pay. On your Apple ID account page, sign in and click your device. In the information that appears, go to the Apple Pay section and click either Remove or Remove all. Your card or cards will be suspended or removed from Apple Pay even if your device is offline and not connected to a cellular or Wi-Fi network."

Just to close this issue.

I finally found out that the unknown card on file in my 'Wallet' was a new debit card being issued by my bank!! Apparently they had already linked it to Apple pay which is why I was seeing it waiting to be set up in Wallet with the new security code. Just a pity they didn't tell me until the new card arrived!!!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing that additional information.

It looks like you've already reviewed If you can't add cards to Wallet to use with Apple Pay.

If so, and the issue persists, make sure the date and time are set correctly on your iPhone: Set the date and time on iPhone

Also, if you're connected to a VPN, disconnect from it, and try adding the card again.

The main issue is with adding a card to Wallet.

1) The solution you have provided in the management of cards section does not work as it only lets you remove cards that have already been successfully added to Wallet, in my case when I try to add my card the one with the unknown card number is stated as 'On File' and it is asking me to confirm the 3 digit security code which obviously I don't know.

The card 'On file' is from the same Bank as the card I am trying to add which maybe one reason it will not add my card, but this is strange as I have never added other cards to Wallet.

2) The card I have registered with Apple Pay is my correct card but for some reason I cannot add this card to Wallet.
