Signup for apple tv

I dont have any apple devices until I bought apple tv. I signed up for an apple id as per request in initiating the tv . Now the tv installation instructions say I must have an ITunes account to use apple tv. When setting up for a ITunes, they need access to my photos and contacts which I don't want to give, so I can't continue. What are my options? J
