Stuck line of pixels - iMac 27 Late 2015

Hi everyone,

Has anyone had any experience with a single vertical line of stuck blue pixels on their 5k iMac. I've tried SMC and NVRAM resets without luck. There was no trauma or physical damage to the screen, it just appeared one day.

I'm open to suggestions to rectify the issue, but also keen to know if anyone has had their screen replaced by Apple outside of warranty and could provide an idea of costs. Apple frustratingly has refused to provide even a ballpark estimate without taking my machine to a shop, which is tricky at the moment.

Thanks!

iMac 27″, macOS 11.3

Please try restarting in Safe Mode per the directions in Use Safe Mode to isolate issues with your Mac.

You cannot get a ballpark estimate without taking the computer into your local Apple Authorized Service Provider to have it professionally diagnosed. However, if it is the GPU (which is what I'd suspect) you will need to replace the main logic board as the GPU is integrated into that board, it's not a separate board like an old PC or really old iMac.

Not on a 5k iMac, but I did on a 2006 when it was about 5 years old. It started with 1 row and gradually expanded to 4 rows. Then 1 row pop up in a new location. iMac's were easier to work on back then, so I disconnect the internal display and parked an external display in front of it. I used it that way for about a year, then I moved away from the all-in-one iMac's to Mac Mini's.

Sadly you're at the cross roads here, because it's going to cost as much or more to fix, than it is worth.
