the MacBook is not showing up the full amount of files, both movies and music look to stop right at the D letters. Anything past that is not showing. Ive gone through and used the command, shift and (.) and they are not hidden.
The hard drive works fine on other computers just not showing on the M1 MacBook Air.

If you restart your Mac, do you notice the same issue?
Also, try restarting in safe mode, and check for the issue there: How to use safe mode on your Mac
Finally, to determine if the issue is user-specific or system-wide, create a new admin user account, and look for the files there: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

using the same external hard drive on a non M1 MacBook Air it shows all. It’s only an issue on the m1 MacBook Air.
it’s constant to the new m1. Restarting and reconnections have no corrective action.
Going into safe mode did nothing. But after reloading the OS. It solved the issue.
