I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) running Big Sur. One of my Thunderbolt USB4 ports only works intermittently for charging, it works fine for other devices plugged into that port (monitor, external drive etc). The other 3 ports act normally. I only used that port for charging previously. Is this a hardware issue (do I need to replace the port)?

Yes, most likely that one USB-C port is bad. Luckily it is probably just a bad I/O Board since you have the four port model. You will need to have Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider examine the laptop to provide you with a repair estimate.
