What happened to predictive mailboxes?

What happened to predictive mailboxes? Apple Mail used to do a pretty good job of predicting what mailbox I wanted to move an email. In the last few months/updates it has stopped working on my MacBook Pro (it works fine on my iPhone). Any help?

Have you tried using Rules to move specific emails into specific mailboxes? I have many, many rules to move upon receipt emails into respective mailboxes. I then have a smart mailbox with the criteria "Mails is unread". That way I can find and read all new mail, delete those that I don't want and the rest are safely in their specified mailboxes.

Thanks. I just got off the phone with Apple customer support. Although very friendly, no solution could be found after they talked to the engineers. I was hoping there was a way to "reset" predictive mailboxes so they would start working again but no. This makes Apple mail go from a great mail app to borderline useless for any users that have a substantial number of mailboxes. They suggested leaving feedback on apple.com, which I will do. Apple is not what it used to be.........
