Iphone SMS from PC

Just migrated over from Android and have discovered that according to tech support there is no way to send/receive sms from PC ... apparently I have to buy a Mac ... lol. Anybody know a clever way around this nonsense?

Im honestly just about ready to box all this Apple crap up and return it for a refund.

iOS is a sandboxed operating system, and thus third party developers, like MS or Google, do not have the ability to write apps that access certain core services on an iPhone. The iOS Message App handles SMS/MMS and Apple iMessages, and since it is Apple’s code, they can build their continuity feature into their operating systems so an iPhone, iPad and Mac can share and sync messaging. But no third party app, like YourPhone, has any access to the iPhone iOS Message app to sync data with none Apple operating systems or devices.

The whole aspect of a sandboxed operating system and closed, Apple controlled architecture is at the very heart of Apple’s promise to build secure mobile devices. Obviously that doesn’t work for everyone, but is one of the reasons many of us choose not to use other operating systems for our personal devices.

SMS is a carrier function. They would be the developer who would logically make a PC SMS client.

Why would Apple develop a client for 2 technologies they don't own?

Google may find something if you look. "Windows SMS client" is a good start.

Because people who prefer to use non Apple PC's might be more inclined to buy other Apple devices. The more interesting question to me is: Why isn't the Windows native YourPhone app fully functional with Iphone? I guess I just assumed (admittedly possibly wrongly) that it was an Apple imposed obstacle. A bit of a silver lining is that Iphone appears to automatically connect to overseas data a whole lot better than android when traveling . . . and iphone is one of the limited amount of options that I could find that is both a US market phone and dual sim capable. I missed the return window, so Ill have at least a year to see if it works out . . .

Thanks for the replies!
