How can I open a mime-attachment?

I need to read it urgently.

The key to your dilemma is understanding what type of document is attached. You may need to contact the originator to ask about the attachment.

You will need an App that is appropriate for the attachment. For example, if the attachment is a Microsoft Word or Excel document, you will need to install the appropriate Microsoft App on your iPad
