Notes app password forgotten

Hi buddies,

I created some passwords for my Notes app when I had an iphone 6, always viewed them with just the TouchID, then changed the iphone 6 to an iphone 7. No problem, I can still access my notes with TouchID.

But when I got an iphone X, I couldn't access my locked notes with the FaceID (it doesn't even show me that option for the old notes that I'm trying to access, it just shows me the password directly), and I forgot the password, so I tried to reset it in Settings, but it just doesn't reset the old password that was created with the TouchID.

No idea what to do, I need those notes, there are so important.

Thanks for your time ^_^

There is a hint that was created by you for locked Notes, please use them. If you do not have one then please keep trying various passwords known to you.

There is no way of resetting the Notes password.

The only option that you have is to keep trying as there is no limit on the number of attempts.

However, you can set a new password for your new notes, but for the old notes, you need to get the old password only.

If you have imported some notes from Old iPhone to the new one then you will have to attach the password to the new Touch ID / Face ID on your new iPhone. At some given time you must have created a password and enabled touch Id / Face ID to the password. Any Notes created thereafter will only use your Touch ID / Face ID. Because of this, it is very likely that you may not recall the password now.

Face ID / Touch IDs are not transferable from one device to another.

Thank you for your answer SravanKrA

Yes I've tried the hint option but with no result.

I did some digging before I got here and it seems there is no solution for getting back my notes other than just keep trying the forgotten password.

My last hope was to come here and see if Apple could do something about it. Or maybe just fix the problem for the next person that could get the same problem.

Thanks again!
