Text replacement shortcuts not working

Hello,

I couldn't see any previous threads about this in FCP.

I've got several text replacement shortcuts set up in System Preferences (e.g. omw for On my way!) which work in Mail, Safari, Notes etc but never FCP.

Most of the time, I'll need to right-click, and toggle Text Replacement on (which always undoes itself the next time I right-click).

Occasionally, they won't work at all, even after toggling Text Replacement on.

Have restarted, reset preference files but nothing I've tried has worked.

FCP 10.4.10

macOS Mojave 10.14.6 (going to Catalina/ Big Sur is not an option for now)

Would appreciate any help – thanks!

I have just done a little test.

In my system, text substitution works fine in the Inspector (for both captions and titles).

It does NOT work automatically when typing the captions directly in the Timeline.

Thus all I can offer for now may be called a workaround: type the text of the captions in the Inspector.

I am running 10.5.2 on Big Sur.
